Membership Application

Ready to join the movement? Submit your application to become a member of Transform Alliance Africa and help drive care reform across the continent.

Apply for membership of Transform Alliance Africa

Apply online by filling in the application form below. You will need to have your cover letter and supporting documents ready. Your cover letter should include:

  • A brief overview of your background and key areas of work (in the case of an organisation, your vision, mission and objectives)
  • The reasons why you would like to join the Alliance 
  • A recommendation from a current TAA member organisation or from another organisation
  • How you see yourself contributing to TAA’s vision and mission
For organisational Full or Associate member applications

For organisational Full or Associate member applications only, your supporting documents should include (whenever possible, in English and printed on the organisation’s letterhead paper and signed by the representative):

  • Current work Programme
  • Annual Report
  • Copy of Child Protection/Child Safeguarding Policy
  • Organization Registration Certificate
  • A letter stating your organisation’s commitment to the Vision, Mission, objectives and membership rules of TAA
  • A written reference proving that the organisation is in ‘good standing’ (e.g. from peer organisations)

    Focus of Your Work

    Please give a short description of your main area of focus and relevant professional experience, pertinent to alternative care and care reform in the African context.



    Full Member – Organisations with legal status, academic and research institutions, or associations of children/young people with care experience who can meet all full membership criteria.
    Associate Member – Organisations willing to contribute but not yet fulfilling all criteria for full membership. May become full members later.
    Friend of TAA – Individuals with an interest, knowledge or expertise in care reform who wish to support TAA’s Vision and Mission.

    I / MY ORGANISATION hereby declare to commit to the Vision of TAA of an Africa free of orphanages, where all children belong and grow in safe and loving families. I also commit to contribute to the Alliance’s Mission to be a catalyst that will end institutional care of children in Africa by bringing together our collective voices, knowledge, practice, and experience to strengthen families.

    We/I have read and understood the guidelines outlined in the Membership Criteria and agree with the benefits and responsibilities contained therein. Furthermore we/I hereby declare to commit to ensure child protection in all our work with children and young people by signing up to comply with TAA’s Child Safeguarding Policy.

    Finally we/I declare to have acknowledged and accepted the rules and commitments stated in the TAA Membership Criteria and we are/I am willing to contribute to activities of TAA and be involved in TAA objectives.
