Across West Africa, the movement to ensure every child grows up in a safe, loving and supportive family is gaining momentum. This regional webinar brought together powerful voices from across the child protection and care reform movement to reflect on progress, confront implementation gaps, and explore practical pathways towards strengthening family-based care and ensuring that children are not unnecessarily separated from their families.
The conversation featured Hon. Anne Musiwa, Special Rapporteur for Children Without Parental Care in the African Union; Ms. Abena Dufie Akonu-Atta, Deputy Director and Head of Monitoring and Evaluation and National Case Manager for the Social Welfare Information Management System (SWIMS); and Ms. Doreen Alaro of Maestral International, representing the Global Campaign for the Care of Children Without Parental Care. The session was moderated by Mr. Komlan Messie, Regional Executive Director, WACSOF/FOSCAO.
