Orphanages are often places of neglect and abuse. They fail to meet children’s emotional, social, and developmental needs. For over a century, evidence has shown that institutional care harms children, weakens families, and is a poor investment for communities and nations.

Africa does not need to follow this path. Many countries worldwide have already moved away from orphanages. We are working to ensure Africa does the same.
